Global Issue Poster
"Being Gay Is In The DNA" set into a double helix, with pride-flag colors arguing identity is innate.
Situation
For a project in ADN 111, Introduction to Two-Dimensional Design, I was assigned to design a poster expressing my view on a significant global issue. I chose to address intolerance toward the LGBTQIA+ community.
Task
Create a compelling poster that promotes tolerance and conveys that being LGBTQIA+ is inherent, not a choice.
Action
I designed a poster built around the phrase Being Gay Is In The DNA, set into the rungs of a double helix. Each rung is colored after the LGBTQIA+ pride flag, so the image says what the words do: that this is something you are born with.
Result
The finished poster makes one clear point, that being LGBTQIA+ is innate, not a choice, in the hope of pushing back against intolerance.
Putting the sentence inside the double helix made the point faster than the words would have alone. Back to all work →
