Situation

In a design assignment, I was tasked with selecting an existing album cover to redesign, focusing on applying 2D design principles.

Task

I chose Billie Eilish's "Happier Than Ever" album cover for the redesign. My goal was to reinterpret the original design while maintaining its vintage aesthetic and enhancing the theme of happiness.

Action

To achieve this, I selected a photograph featuring flowers, symbolizing joy and pleasure, as the focal point. I centered this image within a smiley face, a universal symbol of happiness, and curved the album's title around it to create a cohesive look. An off-white background was chosen to complement the original color scheme and highlight the off-white flowers in the photograph.

Result

The redesigned album cover successfully maintained the vintage aesthetic of the original while emphasizing themes of happiness and cohesion. The use of symbolic imagery and thoughtful design elements resulted in a refreshed and visually appealing interpretation of the album's cover.
