Situation

As part of the Google UX Design Professional Certificate, I completed a portfolio project that asked me to design an app. I chose the prompt to design an art auction app for collectors.

Task

Create a functional, user-friendly digital experience that facilitates art auctions, addressing real user needs and improving the bidding process through UX research and iterative design.

Action

I followed a structured UX design process:

  • Conducted user research to understand needs and pain points.
  • Developed a user persona and journey map to guide design decisions.
  • Created paper wireframes, then translated them into digital wireframes.
  • Built a low-fidelity prototype and conducted usability studies.
  • Analyzed the usability findings and iterated on the design.
  • Developed mockups that evolved into high-fidelity prototypes.

Result

The final high-fidelity prototype incorporated the usability-study findings, leading to a more intuitive, friendly art-auction experience. It strengthened my UX skills and became a thorough case study for my portfolio.

Usability testing caught problems I hadn't spotted, and the design got better with each round of changes. Back to all work →
